Northern Virginia Family Photographer | Are You Printing Your Photos

Recently I came across an article on PetaPixel written by another photographer who received a letter from her neighborhood Costco regarding the closing of their photo lab due to lack or revenue.  Which actually means, people aren’t printing photos.  As I read through her post it hurt my heart a little bit.  I am a mom of three, an aunt of six, a wife, daughter, sister, and friend.  I take THOUSANDS of photos a year and not just for clients.  I take photos of my daily life, my kids, their countless sports and activities, my dog…you get the gist.  My bet is you do too! My question is, are you printing them?  Are they on display in your homes?  Are they put in photo albums?  OR Are they stored on the cloud? A hard drive? A jump drive? I will be the first to admit, I haven’t always been great at printing my images. Even as a photographer I didn’t really print photos of my family.  I will spare you the MANY reason, excuses, etc. but I didn’t.  Almost 6 years ago when we built our home and realized we had many walls that needed to be decorated I made a promise to myself that I wouldn’t fill it with a lot of random art that, let’s face it, we will likely change every few years.  I promised I would get some of the photos printed and I did.  Don’t get me wrong, I do have some cute and trendy art, maps, etc in my home but I have a lot of memories on the walls as well. You don’t have to have professional photos to get them printed.  Your phone photos will do just fine. Below you will find some of my photo walls in my home that I quickly snapped with my phone.  There are some pro photos and some phone photos all mixed in.  I love that my kids can see how they have grown and I can cry a little when they walk past and I realize just how big they are. So, show me your walls and you’re frames.  Show me your families.  Snap your own photos of your galleries and post them in the comment section under this post on the Sweet Pea Studios Facebook page.  On March 31st, I will choose one random winner and their family to have a mini session with me and I will let them choose their favorite image from that session that I will print on a 24×36 canvas for them to hang in their home.  It is THAT simple.  Maybe it will inspire you to print and hang your own photos.  Show me your prints!
