Aldie Newborn and Family Photographer | Who is Krystal of SPS?

It’s been a long time since I have written a “get to know me” piece.  I will first say, I am not a writer.  I believe in expressing myself through photographs to tell a story. However, I will once again step out of my comfort zone and write about myself so you can get to know me.

I am follower of the Lord. Jesus died for my sins and only He can save us.  I have seen Him work in my life in ways that I never thought possible.

I love being a wife to my amazing, handsome and funny husband.  He works hard to support our family and he loves us something fierce. He is my favorite person on the planet.

I get the honor of calling three teen humans my children.  I am finding as they get older I am more and more proud to be their mama.  They really are starting to be kind humans.

I love the beach.  I grew up on the beach and the fact the closest one to me is 2.5 hours away makes me sad.

My family is super active.  We try to exercise together as much as we can but at the very least the kids are active in their own stuff and we support the heck out them.

Disney is my second home. Yes, you heard that right.  We go to Orlando 2-3 times a year.  Sometimes it is to run races but most times not. It is truly a magical place!  We love Disney Cruises as well.

Running is something I do out of necessity but I hate it.  I just love how I feel when I have finished. I recently started again as I will be running the Disney Half marathon in February 2021.

In the past couple of years I have discovered I am an extroverted introvert.  I love meeting people, hearing their stories and giving all the time I can, but when I am done I need a day to decompress.

While I LOVE meaningful conversations, I prefer them in person. As I have gotten older I realize the importance of speaking candidly and keeping confidences with those close to me. I would rather text than be on a phone call and most days I try to just be present at home.

I believe compassion and kindness can change the world.  I try to be kind to everyone I meet.  Smiling is contagious.

I love my friends.  I have a very small group of close friends and I like it that way.  I would do anything for them and work hard for them to know just how important they are.

Baseball (of any kind) and College Football make me happy.  Mostly because it makes the men in my family happy. I prefer to watch them both live. Fun fact, my middle son played in the 2019 Little League World Series.  You can find all of these recaps here and here.

I can’t cook…I mean I can boil water, follow a few recipes but overall it stresses me out.  My dear friend Jenny  has tried to teach me when I am with her.  Mostly we drink wine and she cooks.

Speaking of wine, I love it and a good craft beer, which coincidently my friend Jenny makes as well and it’s awesome!

I love coffee, sweet tea (which not many places in Northern Virginia sell), and homemade lemonade.

I am an includer to a fault. Maybe it stems from the mean girls when I was younger but I don’t want ANYONE to feel left out.  There is always enough room for everyone. I spend a lot of my time teaching my kids that their friend circle should be a “U” and not a circle.

Laughing is music to my soul! There is nothing better than a house full of laughter.

I believe that making memories is the most important thing in life.  That includes capturing a few with my camera.  I would rather take a trip or an adventure than buy something my kids will use once or twice.

I started taking photos when I was in college.  I wanted to remember the good, the bad and everything in between. I love that my children look back through albums and get to know my husband and myself when we were younger.  They can each see themselves in both my husband and I.  When we had our last child, I decided to go back to school and learn everything I could about my camera and photographing my babies.   I never thought it would turn into my dream and future.  I am honored to have met so many families over the years and capture memories for their families.  I look forward to many more years.
